Read Across America

Read Across America Reading Challenge!
Posted on 03/06/2019
Throughout the month of March, all students will be participating in a reading challenge to support Read Across America.  Each week, students in preschool and kindergarten are expected to read 10 minutes a night and all first graders 15 minutes each night.

Students will have reading logs to be completed at home with parents and returned each Friday to be tallied up by our teachers.  The class with the most minutes read in each grade level at the end of each week will receive a prize!  At the end of the month, the three top reading classes will be receiving a pizza party for their efforts!!!

Our goal is to promote the love of reading with all students and we are super excited to see if they reach our school goal of 140, 700 total minutes read!!

In addition to the challenge, each Friday we will have a DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time, a door decorating contest, a book swap and Family Literacy Night on Thursday, March 28 from 6-8pm!  We hope to see you there!!!

At Oakview, "Reading is Our Thing!" so keep reading each night and help us reach our school goal.  If we do, our students will receive a glow dance party and Mr. Dougherty will be spending a day on the school roof reading to classes!
